No disrespect to Hindi. It is a very versatile language and has made it very easy for us to communicate with each other. I come from the Bagheli speaking part of eastern Madhya Pradesh and Bagheli is considered a Dialect of Hindi and guess what, you would find different types of sub-dialects too. I mean what kind of Dialect has their own Sub-dialect. Even though I come from the Bagheli speaking region, I hardly speak any. I always thought that I could atleast understand it but when i was talking to my Grandma the other day talking to her about her past, she started using terms which I have hardly ever heard. Her speech became almost intelligeble to me and that is what made me realise how much of our Language is just fading away. Please share your thoughts as well.Magahi is essentially going extinct because its listed as a dialect of Hindi. Kids never learn it because you are supposed to speak hindi “properly” than talk in dehati language. Very likely this is following up in a lot other local languages. Languages evolve over time. Hindi itself has borrowed heavily from urdu & Persian. And it would go extinct if it does not adapt to english.

Literature is very important to preserve culture. The moment you fully adopt a different language and its script then you have sentenced your language to death.
