I still remember it pretty well though, even if it was back in grade school. I vaguely remember thinking it was weird, but then my fingers were covered in ink so I had to go touch my friends’ faces as much as possible, because ink fingers, and that was that. Nowadays, no way would I be ok with that for my kids. I have an in-law who got some sort of juvenile sentence at 11 or 12. Never served it (bad situation of going from parents to relatives to friends’ houses), eventually moving out of state. They’re technically a fugitive. They’ve tried to resolve it but this all happened July to November 2001 in a county and state bordering the NYC area and with everything that happened that fall, records have disappeared and the arresting officer was even in the guard and had stints in the ME.
