I’m all for using native grasses and plants in one’s yard (in fact, I encourage it. Native grasses can look really nice, even when manicured, and help support the ecosystem) but species which aren’t supposed to be in that ecosphere should be limited or confined Reseeding grass fucking sucks, it requires 2-3 day watering for weeks. Miss a day or two and they could all die. This reminds me, every year my mom and I coordinate on her garden, it’s become our project over the last few years, and every time we come away saying “we’ll do better next year.” Last year we said “fuck it” and decided to have a dandelion garden instead. They grew all over our yard, they were hardy, they were pretty, why not, right? We didn’t grow a single one. The entire street, no one had dandelions last year. I still don’t know what happened. I personally don’t find them pretty. So I don’t have a dandelion bed the same way I have a rose and lavender bed. If dandelions start growing in that rose and lavender bed it’s a weed. A long and successful propaganda campaign by companies that sell products for your lawn. Dandelions were considered fine until the fine folks that make weed killer couldn’t figure out a formula that killed weeds but not dandelions so they just starting claiming dandelions were weeds and problem solved
