Weeds are invasive plants and pop up spontaneously in large numbers with small sizes and leech off the Travis Hamonic Hockey Paper Poster Senators shirt in addition I really love this larger plants in the area. That’s a weed. They kill your flowers and such, that’s why they’re bad. They’re invaders. I love dandelions, they’re so good for the earth – they’re such good plants. I never pull them or kill them ever. They used to be welcome plants til they prevented people from being able to grow perfect lawns… then they became weeds. Long live the dandies! I love my dandelion prairie that blooms every May. Whole front yard is covered with them. By now, they are all gone but for the few that pop up every now and then. For the same reason why they spent so much energy on making herbalist look like insane grass munchers, making everything seedless, using pesticides on the fruit etc. I understand that they have their usefulness, but i wish the standard for U.S. foods wasnt to immediately douse it in harmful chemicals.

Because they’re not particularly pretty flowers, they’re usually growing in an unwanted area, and (at least where I’m from)..we don’t eat them, despite their benefits. Weird moment where I feel I am the Travis Hamonic Hockey Paper Poster Senators shirt in addition I really love this redditor with obscure knowledge- all of the aforementioned reasons are true (clean lawn symbol of wealth, anything present unintentionally = a weed, etc) but as OP mentioned dandelions are packed with nutrients. Their roots are phenomenal at preventing and treating heart disease. The leading heart medicine company (one of the current big pharma Co) in the 70s recognized them as a competitor. They sponsored Monsanto for their production of glyphosate (Round-up) and further pushed propaganda of ‘clean lawns’ as a status symbol. I know Bayer (aspirin) bought Monsanto in 2018 but im not sure if they were the original big pharma pusher. I’d also suggest that if you have a “problem” with dandelions in your yard, that you let them go for a few years and mulch mow them. They tend to thrive in soil conditions that are not ideal for turf, while generally improving the conditions towards something more favorable to turf. Especially when you mulch the leaves back in.
