My kids safety is far more important than anyone’s feelings. My 13 weeks baby just recovered from Covid and we have no idea how he got it. The only people who were in contact with him were my in laws, husband and I and all of us are fully vaccinated and tested negative and also none of us met with anybody. I cried every day last week seeing him with 39° fever, he could barely eat and couldn’t sleep. He was so weak he couldn’t even cry. He’s fine now, but his sleep is still messed up. Somehow my aunt asked me today if we’re going to go to their house with LO for Easter and didn’t see why I got upset.

I cant be making the same mistakes of sacrificing how i feel for others anymore Your mom is behaving atrociously. Acting like it’s some horrible struggle to not kiss a baby. She is already getting the immense privilege of meeting a very young infant with no immune system. I want to start by saying I allow my family and friends to kiss my baby ( obviously not if they know they’re sick and defs not if they have a cold sore). I let them kiss the face and head, not hands though. This stuff happens. Sometimes you’re just as likely to get it just breathing the same air. A face kiss isn’t necessarily what will do it. You see and it all comes down to just respecting a reasonable boundary no matter what it is! I’m glad she’s okay, so far mine is doing good and we’re hoping it stays that way. Oh my goodness I am going through this right now with my 6 month old and an elderly grandma on chemo, my husband’s relatives are mad I don’t want to go to a family birthday on their side with bub when they have two little tykes in daycare!! I’ve literally seen one of them lick a door handle in public and lick glass! And they are pissed at us, I’ve been the bad guy all day! Her reaction was gross and manipulative. I laid the same boundary at Christmas and my upset GIL sniffles off and goes to kiss on my nephew instead. ? who by the way, was given a terrible cold sore infection by MIL a few months prior. But we still kiss babies because apparently that “isn’t how he got it! It’s only from getting over cold! He needs more blankets!”
