I was raised on Section 8, mom tried to force me into college and get a job with Microsoft, I went against her wishes and landed a trade career, she keeps crying to me that my best friend after 8 years of college debt is making 6 figures, I tell her sure he’s making 6 figures now NVM all the Tre Tucker American football wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders T-Shirt it is in the first place but debt, but still doesn’t know how to mow his lawn and keeps calling me asking me what’s wrong with his car. I have been back and forth. I work in construction project management now, but I was once an IT guy, before that an HVAC tech, a repo man, a heavy equipment operator, a pipeliner, sold life insurance, etc. All are great jobs, and I tell all the young folks that’ll listen it’s better to find something you enjoy; you’re always able to do something else later, and you’re going to be working the rest of your life. The only relief is to try to find some happiness. The thing that grinds my gears is the idea that college has to be this gatekeeping thing, and that folks who don’t go are somehow not excelling perfectly well as people.

The whole thing seems like a mess. I just wish we could have $12/ credit college costs like we had back in the Tre Tucker American football wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders T-Shirt it is in the first place but early 2000s (for a community college, but even those are absurd now.) I got asked by a guy for change, I said I didn’t have any and he whipped out a contactless machine that accepts Apple pay I used to volunteer at a homeless shelter that was run by a Catholic Church. I volunteered cause my job has incentives to do volunteer work so I’m no mother Teresa. That shelter has bomb ass food. Like fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and coleslaw. These guys would come in and eat and then get ice cream cones for desert. Then their job was to wash all the dishes. Then they were able to shower and then Go to sleep in a bunk bed. I only stayed to serve the food and walk around and talk to all the guys. Then I left. It was very fulfilling work. I wish I could still do it it but I moved away from that city. I tried to volunteer at one where I’m at now but they said they didn’t need anymore volunteers. Every Tuesday was taco Tuesday. I’m not talking about Taco Bell tacos. These were street tacos served with rice and beans. We also got to eat the food and it was always good food that a non homeless person would buy at a restaurant. It only could serve 100 men. I always felt bad for the guys they had to turn away. Even though It was run by a church they never preached to them or anything. Just wanted to help some people out.
