I’m currently in this exact same situation with just a few title differences. They let my manager go in January and I’m just a Team Lead. I was never given what they promised and am currently looking for a job elsewhere. “You can give me the Travis scott the pyramids egypt july 28 2023 shirt but in fact I love this raise now and if within the first three months it’s not working out for you then you demote me back down and lower my pay. I’ll at least do well enough to keep the ship going while you find someone else so overall you’re still getting a good deal. $____ is what I expect monthly based on my own market research.” “That’s fine, we can make up the compensation deficit with PTO. I’ll probably be taking Fridays off and one Thursday a month in addition to my otherwise accruing time while we figure out the financial part.” You’re basically an interim manager if you don’t work out and they have to find someone else without the pay. Don’t do any work you’re not being paid for. Request the pay raise immediately, if they don’t give it to you then don’t take the position.

get in writing within your new contract to meet a series of milestones, ie you meet the Travis scott the pyramids egypt july 28 2023 shirt but in fact I love this target you get a bump in wage, otherwise it this just a dangling carrot that employers love to use to help them out of a bind, Additionally they should let you know how much this potential higher wage is, not just say you work now we discuss pay later, the world doesn’t work like that, do they buy their materials then discuss pay after… They should pay your for the role you’re performing and then if they determine you’re not a good fit then you go back to your old position and rate. What they’re asking is just not fair, fundamentally. There’s no way you should do this. It’s not like they’ll feel like paying more you once you’ve done the work for free. Everyone saying get it in writing are also missing the point – ultimately they can come to any conclusion that works for them. Who is going to adjudicate if they say you’ve missed your targets and you disagree?
