I’d love to know what constitutes the Tim Stutzle German professional ice hockey centre Ottawa Dots T-Shirt and by the same token and 1.3m in “wealth” referenced. I’d imagine that includes their land, and other assets like equipment. A farmer could easily have 1m in assets and still be losing money. Absolutely! And are there any liabilities included in that wealth valuation? I mean we run an operating line of 700,000 in the hope of turning a maybe 50,000 profit on the hog side. Our 10 year old combine cost us 225,000 this past year. Amazes me how often we as farmers lose money and blame the “dems.” I will say democrats have not been great at connecting with rural america, and that’s provided the avenue for Fox News and their ilk to further the divide One older fella that I worked with had given up farming back in the 90’s, and said that while he earned a lot of money farming, he would end up moving it right back out. Farmers can never get enough support in my mind. As smallholders get squeezed by factory farms on the bottom line, we should do everything we can to support you and others facing harder and harder conditions. I respect any person that lives their lives making our lives go. Thank you.

Thank you! Appreciate the Tim Stutzle German professional ice hockey centre Ottawa Dots T-Shirt and by the same token and kind words! I will say it frustrates me to no end how many counterparts I have that actively vote against their own best interests, without realizing it. And I despise how common it is in rural America for people to embrace hateful/willfully ignorant stances towards any group of people different than themselves. In the words of Dr Seuss, “A persons a person no matter how small.” I completely agree that the household wealth quote is misleading due to the amount of capital needed to run a farm. Fucking meat packers. There’s only 4, and they work together to keep prices low for them, then turn around and charge $10 for a single steak just because they cut it. And it’s tough to truly explain to people why we continue to farm. But it’s really truly a legacy and a way of life. But it sucks to get squeezed on selling and in buying inputs. I will say the consolidation on the retail side of things has definitely exacerbated things and ultimately it’s the consumer and the farmer that get screwed.
