Humans are complex and different creatures, and forcing oneself to try and try at something that isn’t working just creates frustration and anger. None of it had helped me or lessened my anxiety. None of it has helped with depression. After two years I gave up. Great suggestions OP. I personally don’t like sitting with my many internal compadres so I find simple body scans and ARE listening a few times a day work best for me. I would hesitate to say it isn’t for everyone for this reason. Although I think the self-help view that it’s going to patch your problems and fix what is “wrong” with your brain is where people could be made worse off or disappointed from it. And for the self-help purpose things like yoga or journaling can definitely be more effective.
