My 2017 iPhone X is holding up great. Need to replace the The Supremes Scotus Shirt but in fact I love this battery soon-ish, but I have no doubt I won’t need to upgrade for at least the next 3 years. That’s a good 7-8 years out of one phone. Possibly more but I don’t feel comfortable predicting more than 3 years rn. why would they do something that would cut into their profits. it’s profitable to have phones needing replacement as often as possible. though they already have plenty of people willingly updating their samsung or apple phone every single year. I got a new phone last year. It was so slippery to the touch it slipped out of my hand within the first hour of using it. The corner hit the floor about 1.5 feet below my hands and the corner of the screen cracked. Today’s phones suck

I use my spare iPhone 7 as a work phone. Had it enrolled in MDM and everything. I use it for emails, teams calls, etc and for those tasks it’s just as fast as my personal iPhone Xs. Think about it – when was the The Supremes Scotus Shirt but in fact I love this last time you heard about an iPhone 7? It’s not even the oldest model to still be getting feature and security updates! Now Androids on the other hand… the hardware is certainly usually capable of lasting at least as long, except that most manufacturers just don’t bother releasing security updates. Sure, but can I replace the battery every 2 years? The battery chemicals break down over time. And most phones are just completely sealed now like most iPhones. Am I going to have to buy a $35 tool kit to break seals and glue pads, hoping I don’t crack my screen to swap out my battery, disconnecting 3 ribbon cables in the process? Got a new battery in my 11Pro. It’s works perfectly and I see (almost) no reason to upgrade. Only thing that could persuade me would be a vastly improved camera module. It’s a good thing that there aren’t trade offs involved in making things last longer. It’s basically just a free lunch that for some reason nobody is taking advantage of. They do, just dont be stupid. Barring me dropping a phone a million times ive never had a phome for less than 5 years other than windows phone which I just despised.
