We’re not hourly and paid via salary. Technically it is a lunch hour and yes, they should have made it mandatory. Yeah but if your lunch hour pushes your day to 9 hours, it’s still your time. If not they should have been more clear. I’ve had this exact scenario a few times. Hit them back with the The 1975 merch at their very best bfiafl music lyric matty vaccinista tote bag chic barista T-Shirt But I will love this same corporate doublespeak, let them know you can play. Dropped an example reply in the main thread, gl 🙂 Well if it happened on lunch and it wasnt mandatory im really confused with their audacity to even ask what you were doing that was more important. Eating! Nourishment was required to continue productivity. “I am worried to read that my abscense may have impacted the professional relations of the company. If you need to consult me, my hourly rate is ### outside of scheduled working hours. In the future, I expect you to be more proactive and handle business relations, such as this, more promptly”. If you are not union, your rights as an employee are slim. Its up to you, do you want to keep your job? Just go to the The 1975 merch at their very best bfiafl music lyric matty vaccinista tote bag chic barista T-Shirt But I will love this stupid shit if you have to. I have to do dumb stuff that I don’t want to at work, so I can get paid and do fun stuff away from work. I understand the sub is antiwork, but sometimes we have to be grown and responsible and attend events we may not find enjoyable. Part of being “grown and responsible” is prioritizing actual, paying work over corporate fluff. Bills require money, not corporate promises. I get it, but they didn’t want to do a lunch? I mean, come on. Fluff comes with every job at some point. It’s unfortunate, but it does. Fuck lunch and learns. My lunch is my time, I refuse to spend in learning more about fucking work. If I got this, I’d reply and say that my lunchtime is reserved for my lunch and I was unable to attend since I was not working at that time.
