When the incredulity of what had just happened wore off and the anxiety set in, I freaked. I made my way back to the gate I’d come in through and I roared. I rattled and kicked the gates and threw anything not screwed down against plexi glass windows that wouldn’t shatter. After about twenty minutes of doing this I attracted the attention of a few passers-by on the street. (Pre mobile phone & internet days) Somebody went to a phone box and alerted the train company/management of the station and they agreed to send someone out to let me out. This took about another hour and 15 minutes. Overall, I wound up being locked in there for nearly 2 1/2 hours. The worst part was thinking I wouldn’t be able to raise the alarm and that I was stuck there for the night at the mercy of whatever horror lived down in the tunnels. One passer by stayed with me until I was released.
