I realised the Super Smash Bros Dojo shirt but in fact I love this bus was almost full and there was a good chance she would sit next to me. At 17 I was incredibly shy. So, she comes upstairs and goes to sit next to me. I realised my overcoat was half over her side of the seat from when I sat down, so I reached out to pull it towards me. I could have died. She laughed. I was so embarrassed. Apologised and spent the rest of the journey daring not to look anywhere but firmly out of the window. Early 90s. Rural England. Our bus driver ‘Little Dave’ used to stop and pick up any mangled bird or animal to take it home for his tea. Mostly it was pheasants that got put in the bin at the front of the bus. Yup, you’ve guessed it… one wasn’t dead and started flapping about and crapping everywhere. I know that scarred a couple of people for life as they still go crazy any time a bird flies near them. One time there was a large deer which he wasn’t going to pass up, so he stopped the bus and asked some of us older kids to help drag it into the luggage hold. A few kids had to climb over it to get out.

Most of my bus stories involve people being creepy and inappropriate towards me so I’ll spare you the Super Smash Bros Dojo shirt but in fact I love this details but we did used to have one fun driver who drove like a bit of a nutter and it wasn’t uncommon to hear him cry “Weeeeee!” as we went over a bump at an inadvisable speed. My weird bus story was 2014? It was my first day of high school, I was really frightened to go by myself because we had only moved to the area about a year prior. My mum took me to the bus stop and this really lovely boy in S2 spoke to her and said he’ll look after me and make sure I get to school. We said goodbye and me and the boy chatted (i’ll call him C for the sake of this story) C and i became good friends and quenched a bunch of my anxieties. I got on the bus with him and this boy with a black tie (later found out he was 5th year) came up behind me and rubbed himself against my backend saying “Is this what C does to you at night” I stood completely still. It’s my first fucking day. I was terrified. I felt his penis against my bum and I was shaking by the time i got off the bus. C’s friend and her older sister (who was also in S5) got on the bus and saw me shaking and trying not to cry. The older sister instructed me to go to the school police officer and tell them what happened. She took me and I spoke to him. He didn’t take me seriously at all. But the boy who done this to me left school not long after, but him and his little jackass friend group tortured me. So I ended up having to get the OTHER bus that took longer to get home because the police officer instructed me that I was “asking for it” by getting the shorter bus journey back home. To this day, If i see that boy a shrill of panic comes over me and I start feeling sweaty and like I’m going to pass out. Sometimes it feels not real
