How about sympathy…i feel for you, my friend. and can totally relate. it sucks. i always wanted to fly, be a pilot for the Still Playin’ George Jones The Possum T-Shirt moreover I love this airlines then my eyes went bad and i couldn’t get into military flight program. then i was just like you, lost, no compass or direction, nothing calling to me that i have a passion for. so i ended up in sales. you did great in your sales job. Sales is difficult, underpaid in 90% of companies, unrealistic expectations. personally, for me it was always hearing about “someone else” with the great sales job, making big bank, on the golf course a couple times a week. i was IT sales for a while, should have been shit hot for career and $, it was shit. i’m starting in a new endeavor, its 1099, has great potential for realistic 6 figures if you work, the biggest thing is the residual component to the compensation, so you are not starting at zero every month and you grow and grow your residuals each month. Hot service. the downside is 1099 so you are independent and have to like that. good expense compensation element to comp plan but no benefits, no 401k. upside, you’re your own boss so to speak, no bullshit to contend with, no idiot managers, no quota pressure (which can be good or bad….good if you can discipline yourself to work, no so good if you need the stick of a quota beating you and motivating you to work). hmu on dm if you want to know more. but more so just identified with your plight and lived it myself and knows how it blows and how depressing it can be. i don’t know about you but i always envied friends in careers they love do what they love and always wanted to do. i never had that. outside of flying NOTHING appealed to me, it all sucked but you HAVE to work to hack out a stinking living. so just wanted to say i feel you, you are not alone.

Get your head straight first. Life will be more rewarding. Then find your passion and what would make you wake up happy each morning. Not the Still Playin’ George Jones The Possum T-Shirt moreover I love this drudgery of being a wage slave. Then hire an hourly financial planner. You can do it! Move to a different country to let those student loans default and become “bad debts” to be written off. You’ll have to convert them to a private loan first. Governments hate this one trick. My friend, you’re the problem and you need to hear this. A job is a job. Time to grow up and stop looking for meaning in it because you can’t afford it. I’ve done it. I interviewed two. The first charged $400 per hour and tried to fat shame me. Bag that! I went with the second. She was okay, but not great. Maybe I should have interviewed more. My best experience was outplacement after a layoff. BTW, three layoffs is pretty normal.
