Language changes and frankly “whom” is more or less dead. Kaley Cuoco is an “eener”, or at least was on Big Bang. When I once really needed one I couldn’t remember the word and, as a fully grown adult, called an ambulance a “nee-naw nee-naw”. Going by someone I used to date, apparently in middle Tennessee “important” is pronounced “impordunt”. It irritated the shit out of me. Is it weird that mispronunciations don’t annoy me anymore? When I was younger, I’d nitpick at so many mispronounced words. As I got older, and met people from different backgrounds and different life experiences, it stopped being annoying. Same here. I took a couple of linguistic classes, and a lot of language ‘mistakes’ make a lot of sense now. I also work in a special Ed classroom. I’d lose my mind if I was hung up on every mispronunciation. There are much worthier things to be annoyed about. On a serious note though, do you think people would pronounce it correctly if it was spelt nyoky? I feel like a lot of foreign words aren’t spelled correctly

Well, it’s not really an error as such, but I find people pronouncing “research” with the stress on the first syllable (re-search) jarring, because to me that implies “search again” The way people mispronounce “Reese’s” peanut butter cups. It’s not ree-see’s, nor ree-cess, it’s pronounced like the name Reece with an apostrophe ‘s’, as in possessive. The Reese’s belong to Reese. one time I was on grindr and a dude messaged me and asked what I went to school for and I said physics, but astrophysics was my concentration…. Americans pronouncing Entrepreneur, or en masse. Basically a Yank saying any French phase that has been adopted into English. A former boss of mine went by the name Maz and our new American director kept calling him Moz. When corrected, he couldn’t hear the difference. Febuary!!! Hate that. As a bit of an aside I can’t understand why Americans say ‘tua fish.’ Why don’t they say ‘chicken bird’? Quixotic when it’s pronounced “Quick-z-otic” it stead of Key-hoe-tic. The root word for it is Don Quixote and his stupid quests. Why people can say one and not the other baffles me?
