I started with guided meditation exclusively for probably the Snoopy And Charlie Brown Nfl Carolina Panthers This Is My Christmas shirt besides I will buy this first year. It’s hard to notice you’ve gotten lost in thought when getting lost in thought is the thing you’re best at and have been doing for decades. Having someone in my ears remind me to focus on my breathe helped a lot. I normally did 5-8 minute meditations for the first few months. For you, remember it’s only 6 minutes. You’re learning to focus on very little and be in the present moment, no matter how boring, for 6 minutes. And that’s the point – that it is boring, that nothing special is happening, is the point, that’s the treatment. You learn to focus, and you learn to disengage with all the other things your mind is trying to conjure up to think about instead of whatever is actually happening / actually important right now. Explore that boredom. I found (and find) a lot of joy in being present. Life is quieter. There are a million things I could be thinking about right now, but I’m thinking about my early days of meditation and how I can most usefully write about them to you. I am going a little into debt this month, I need to respond to like 6 text messages, I have a presentation in 2.5 hours, I’m sure I could convince myself all my friends hate me if I engage those thoughts, I’m looking forward to a dinner with a friend tonight – but I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about meditating, and through training myself with meditation I’m able to not engage any of those above thoughts when they arise and instead focus on something here and now that I enjoy.

My ADHD still fucks with me sometimes (often). But it fucks with me way less because of meditation. Even if my thoughts are racing, I’m getting pelted with a million things, I am so much better at noticing that I am wildly bouncing from thought to thought, and then I can better choose which to engage and which to table for later. Meditation taught me how to do that. Use your breathe Snoopy And Charlie Brown Nfl Carolina Panthers This Is My Christmas shirt besides I will buy this as your anchor to the present moment, as the thing to return to when your thoughts wander (and they will wander, over, and over, and over), be kind to yourself, and be curious. I found using a guided meditation very helpful to start practicing. I downloaded an app called insight timer. And the only ones I ended up liking was Tara Brach’s meditations.
