I’m 37 and have a long list of reasons why I don’t and very probably never will have kids, but yeah, this one is probably in my top 3. It’s difficult to put into words, but I can’t imagine being without him. It’s kind of like how you can’t imagine not having a right arm, or feet, or a tongue. From his birth, he’s just been essential part of life. It’s impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t experienced it. It’s nowhere near comparable but when I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, it clicked, “Oh okay, this is why this is a thing.” It’s more incredible than you could imagine. I had a similar experience when I saw The Milky Way for the first time. I just love holding him, putting him to sleep, feeding him, seeing his face light up.

I find that the Sing the song ash shirt in addition I really love this sentiment of “my kids are the greatest love of my life” tends to wane in the later years of life, as the children start having their own lives and rely and interact with their parents less and less. Agreed and will add that being a parent makes you more of an adult. It rounds out a life experience. But you’ve already said this but I’ll emphasize, some people should not be parents. Part of me wants that love and to watch someone grow. Another part of me recognizes my emotional immaturity and self centeredness which means I’d probably fuck that kid up. I can’t guarantee that I’d be a good parent so I won’t be one. The cycle ends with me and in this case it means not having kids at all. You’ll be missing out on a special kind of love, joy and pride without them. But it’s a responsibility that isn’t for everyone. So if you have any reservations about becoming a parent go with your gut feeling. You will find fulfillment in your life in other ways!
