Your original post seemed to say your employer is “pressing charges” against the Seaholm high school shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this entire staff team and that everyone will have to attend court, but you make no mention of any of that here – is this not what you meant to suggest? They did say they are going to take all of us to court, because even the bartenders that weren’t giving out any drinks were apparently “accomplices” . They said to one member of staff that they called an “accomplice” that they’ll only press charges against the supervisor if they confirm their statements. Yeah, none of this is how any of it works. Either your employer has gone off the deep end and started shouting threats that are flat-out nonsensical, or your colleagues are exaggerating and twisting the story when they’re telling you it. the employee who was in the situation is present with me and not the type to exaggerate. She wouldn’t just quit if it wasn’t serious. Our bosses have a track record of lying and being manipulative so this isn’t too far-fetched of a theory.

We’re all in our early twenties and never had to deal with a situation like this, so we’re quite freaked out. We appreciate all the Seaholm high school shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this advice. 🙂 NOT A LAWYER. Hell I’m not even a very good adult. However this sounds like they’re trying to back you guys into a corner. Have they suggested anything like you guys being able to receive a reduced wage to pay this back? Just like other people have stated none of this is how this works. I had a friend accused by a financial institution of stealing thousands of pounds of cash and altering documents to cover it up. The police did not do this level of investigating for that. This doesn’t even seem like a civil dispute the supervisor would have an implicit right unless stated otherwise to provide drinks on the house to handle things like customer complaints and in a bar even to get a mood going. So unless there was something in his contract forbidding it or they could show it was done out of some kind of malice the worst management can do is fire him for mishandling this situation. As far as the rest of the staff you were following a superiors orders/lead and without training that explicitly says you shouldn’t hand out drinks you have no reason to question this.
