Midge & Baby was my favorite Barbie doll when I was growing up. I loved that you could take her belly off and there would be a baby (or occasionally two!) inside. I grew up as an only child and my cousins didn’t start having kids until I was in my teens, so I never knew anyone who was pregnant either. My friend had this Barbie and I was truly fascinated with it! I thought it was the Santa Paws Shirt In addition,I will do this coolest Barbie ever. I never got one myself but I was not discouraged from playing with this or liking it, etc. I can’t stand when adults make kids feel that normal human experiences are shameful or dirty. Holy complexes, Batman. I really wish we’d stop caving to the moral outrage pearl clutchers. OFC you didn’t think anything about it. You were a kid. I wouldn’t have even known what a wedding ring meant for years and even then wouldn’t have noticed the doll didn’t have one as I certainly didn’t know which finger to look at anyway) It was a single doll for sale. I’d be pissed as a parent if I actually had to buy a full nuclear family just to get the one my kid wanted. I had a Midge too! I loved her & thought it was so cute that she came with teeny baby you could take out of the belly. She had pretty hair & freckles too, it was nice to see her in the Barbie movie.

Santa Paws Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

My Mum found all of my Barbie things in the Santa Paws Shirt In addition,I will do this attic a few years ago (boy, it was a lot) & I ended up giving it all to a friends daughter, including Midge. In hindsight I wish I hadn’t. I had it too! I loved playing with it, my sister and I would do plot lines from marriage to pregnancy to kids etc … it was nice to be able to take the belly on and off, and the baby inside was so tiny and cute! There is a store not far from me that painted the baby black and has it on display. That is the only time I saw a pregnant Barbie. I had this doll and I loved her. Never realized there was this controversy. When they featured her in the Barbie movie, I was so tickled I had it too. At some point I lost the baby and started replacing it with all manner of plastic toys. Poor Midge gave birth to everything from dogs to pokemon… Also, MTV’s “Teen Mom” was heavily criticized at the time, but eventually the criticism relented when parents realized that the portrayal was very negative, to the point that some of the teens actually complained about it. Wait. So in the Barbie movie, Micheal Cera’s character was trying to abandon his pregnant wife by moving to another dimension? I’m both shocked and hopeful that will be explored more in a sequel! I had this doll and honestly loved her.. she also did have a husband and a little boy that were sold separately.. and another doctor barbie that could also come with twins… As a young girl I love this doll because I loved babies and had no issues with mommies being mommies
