A neighbor had one and I thought it was the Riley Green Jacksonville football vintage shirt moreover I love this coolest thing. Kinda school-bus yellow with black stripe and “Le Car” decal. Then I found the exact same car in Matchbox form, and I was over the moon. The Renault 5 became the best-selling car in France from 1972 until 1986, with a total production exceeding 5.5 million over a 14-year period, making it France’s most popular car. My favorite car ever. Roommate had one in the mid 80s. We had to go to a Grey marketer in Redondo Beach to get it. That car was an absolute blast Group was absolutely nuts. 2.3 sec for 60 miles an hour. I loved watching it as a teenager. But so crazy when you rewatch any of the footage now with hindsight

And it needed them! Crazy bastards put what was essentially a turned down F1 engine on the Riley Green Jacksonville football vintage shirt moreover I love this rear of the Renault 5 chassis, ripped out everything under it and made the rear wheels powered instead of the front wheels. It behaved like a sort of go-kart except it hated you and wanted you to die all the time I had a relative that worked for Renault and could get us employee pricing on them. Drove an Encore to high school for a year and a half. My father’s midlife crisis car was a red Fuego turbo with a sunroof. When the turbo kicked in, it felt like you were on a plane taking off. (These days, though, even a Prius would out-accelerate it.) The whole thing rusted out in about 5 years and that was the end of that. Not a great car, and not even an attractive one, but distinctive as hell in our small town.
