She takes longer to complete some tasks because of her level of organizational thinking, level of spatial awareness, mixed with overwhelm, anxiety, & resistance. She abhors cleaning. For example, give my parents the same space to clean. My dad pre-stroke would say, “throw out garbage first. Then handle, boxes or big things, etc. Leave sentimental items (if even necessary) & letters, papers, magazines, last if it’s that they need to be sorted through or shredded.” He got things fairly quickly & with breaks. My mom will move some stuff around, then suddenly stop because she’s overwhelmed or tired, & then immediately start going through mail & booklets, ripping out names, then when she’s done she’ll shred it. Then she’ll look at everything & be upset because there’s so much to do.

My dad had to caretake for his younger siblings when they came to the Rest in peace Dickey Betts 1943 2024 thank you for the memories T-Shirt Also,I will get this US. His homes back in his mother country were cared for by live-in maids (apparently it was popular in his country). He was close to them though, & learned from them. He kind of always kept that level of neatness when he came here, especially because the grime of NYC disgusted him as a teen in the 80s, & that sensation was overwhelmed by the lack of help from his siblings. Anyway, my mom was the youngest of two. She did have to help around the house, but my grandma always felt like no one can clean or do better than her, & her brother was given preference where it was seen that domestic things were gendered. My mom resisted that idea, lol. Anyway, she wasn’t taught much, more expected to pitch in or do. She learned what she saw. Fast-forward to now, she’ll get the task done, but perhaps double the hours my dad would’ve taken, if not spread out in 2 days. I also know she’s older now, is burnt out from working & being a caregiver, added on top of her never liking to clean but will do it because she needs to. So there are origins, influences, & the present.
