It used to be date of application. But they’re only going back up to 12 months. Since it’s likely going to take 2+ years to get approved, I’ll only get 12 months. However, even though I’m not currently on disability, I still have to live (income/asset/savings-limit wise). But without any of the Remember the Lusitania shirt and by the same token and benefits. All of these programs are out there, but you have to be “disabled” to qualify. I call to register. “Are you disabled?” “Yes.” “How much is your SSDI (disability payment)?” “I’m not on SSDI.” “Oh, then you’re not disabled.” The FCK I’m not! I’m not bot disabled today and then, tomorrow, when I get approved snap I’m disabled!!! Yet, at the same time, I have to already be disabled to even apply for disability. So, how does that work?!

What these programs should say for their requirements are not that you have to be disabled, but that you have to be on disability. (SSI/SSDI) And I better keep an eye on my income, cuz I’m screwed if I exceed that limit. Let’s say I end up getting approved in December 2024, but I went over on my income in September. Well, then I only get back-pay from October-December. It’s all about econ 101, supply and demand. When prices for a product goes up, demand goes down. Similarly, when prices go down demand goes up. But also when prices go up, supply tends to follow up. After all, if you could get more money for manufacturing product X, you might decide it’s worth the Remember the Lusitania shirt and by the same token and investment and effort to start manufacturing X. So more suppliers enter the marketplace.
