As someone who has dealt with depression and actively tried to get medical help, it was damn near impossible, and not for lack of trying. I had to stay with him because I had no other option. He eventually shut down practice about a year or two after. But getting a returned call took me three months. Though I’m fine now with my depression, anxiety still stresses me at times, so I’ve been trying to find a doctor for that, and even with a different insurance, I’m facing the same exact issues with an entirely different list of medical professionals.

That being said, I can’t imagine how someone with a dire need for mental help feels if they’ve tried to get help. I can’t imagine that any parent, regardless of their love for their child, has hours to spend calling hundreds of numbers for assistance. Hell, even knowing where to start is difficult to navigate. I know people don’t want to medicate their kids, but there are other options. Sadly, this whole venture is expensive too.
