Remote jobs are changing this quite a bit. It allows any US folks and some European folks to work for a US company more easily, while still having a much nicer compensation. The social safety net is close to inexistent in the Reggie Miller Choke Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this US, though, and the hours worked are much longer (but still largely compensated by the salary, at least for high-salary folks). For those saying the US is the wealthiest nation, it is but it was built on slavery and is now based on debt. It borrows more than it takes in and now pays more in interest than it spends on the military. This is unsustainable and the cracks are showing. America has more wealth than other countries and less social programs so hard work is provided with higher compensation. For better or for worse, the United States places a higher priority on financial success versus other life values like free time.

It’s not worth it with the Reggie Miller Choke Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this shit benefits, risk of bankruptcy even with insurance, massive rent, ridiculous cost of living, requiring a car to get anywhere, terrible time off policies, etc. And that’s if you aren’t dark skinned with an accent. They’re not lol? Sure some jobs in some areas get significantly better pay, but usually the cost of living in general is much higher as well. 3-5x, much less 8-10x, for the same job is not a thing (unless you’re looking at non first world countries, in which case it’s obvious why). You also have to consider that Americans tend to either not have health care insurance, or it costs more than it does in Europe. He gave plenty of examples of professions where US salaries are much higher. It’s not unique at all to find software engineers (even outside of FAANG outliers) making 200-250k+ compared to 50-80k in EU for same experience. Sure, but again, that is in high cost of living areas. It’s not casual for normal, non high CoL, non FAANG IT employees to be earning that much. And in that case, I don’t think it’s fair to say you’re really earning that much when your rent alone is $5k. I’m not denying that in certain sectors, US saries are definitely considerably higher (IT being one of them), but that’s not quite the same as them actually being 3-5x higher. If I go to the larger cities here, I can guarantee you that no experienced IT professional is working for $50k/month. And even there, those areas are guaranteed to be lower CoL.
