When I started work my parents were mortgage free and still working so didn’t need the Proud Veteran Girlfriend My Boyfriend Risked His Life American Flag shirt and by the same token and money from me to contribute to bills but wanted to make me pay keep on principal. They charged me 10% of my gross pay, and said if I didn’t’t also save outside of that 10% they said they would keep it. But if I was sensible with my money, they would occasionally use that money to pay for or contribute towards some larger purchases I made, e.g a new bed/car insurance/holidays and now I’m moving out and buying my own place with my girlfriend, the left over monies they’ve said I can have to put towards furnishing the new flat. My mom charged me £200 per month, which included rent/utilities/water/food etc. I was working full time, and was still able to save up. It was a good way for me to learn budgeting I have been living at home since august and the agreement is i pay £200 amd contribute to shopping, The reason ive moved home is so i can go traveling, earning about £2100 pm and spend maybe 3 days on average at home

I don’t have children, but most of my friends who pay their parents (not many) pay around £100 a month, which is around a third of the Proud Veteran Girlfriend My Boyfriend Risked His Life American Flag shirt and by the same token and average rent 240 more repliesIf they want to save and will be frugal and budget then I would recommend you don’t charge them more than you have to. It would be a huge leg up for them. If they buy new trainers, Xbox, TV, eat KFC every day and pay for a nice car then charge them a bit more otherwise you are just subsidising their lifestyle. Edit: ALSO please don’t buy their food and wash their clothes like some parents do. They won’t learn otherwise. I charge my 2 £100 a month. One is 20 the other 22 years old, both in full time employment. My wife and I paid for their driving lessons and for their first car and 1st years insurance as the last big thing we’d pay for, so after they turned 18, they were paying for themselves.
