Worth noting that over half of US public teachers hold a master’s degree (and 3% doctorate), compared to 12% in the Philadelphia Eagles I’ll Be There For You Shirt also I will do this UK (1.6% doctorate). A lot of my friends who work in Microsoft and amazon keep asking me my salary and how they can enter teaching field cause work load is generally less and my salary in comparable to them. But then again, I teach at a very expensive school and lot of kids here are like millionaires. I am sure same is true for USA as well. Teachers in high end school probably get paid a lot, right? It’s not complicated. It’s because America is a richer country than most of those places. If you compare American salaries to salaries in Switzerland, the big differences mostly disappear or even become negative. You could similarly ask why Europeans are paid more than Latin Americans and why people in most Asian countries are paid more than people in most African countries.

On the Philadelphia Eagles I’ll Be There For You Shirt also I will do this other hand switzerland is an abnormally well-run country so its not an awful tradeoff like it would be compared to most of europe (which is not well run at all) Switzerland is more expensive than most US areas, but not as expensive as the most expensive US areas. I’ve lived in both Zurich and SF and the latter is definitely more expensive. Rents are generally lower in Switzerland and the public education system is great. Sending your kid to a good school/college is a lot cheaper. Healthcare premiums are perhaps somewhat higher in Switzerland, but you’ll never have to pay much out of pocket. Swiss taxes vary by canton, just like US taxes are heavily dependent on the US state you live in. I pay more in California than I did in Zurich. Switzerland is somewhat xenophobic and not welcoming to outsiders particularly POC. The US is way more welcoming.
