Breeds are also in general created like this. Pair variants with characteristics desirable to you, and try to fix those characteristics down the Park high school alumni shirt Additionally,I will love this line. Creating breeds always involves quite a bit of incest though, if to be done in a reasonable time frame. And isn’t a good idea. I don’t really get cat breeds unless you want a hairless cat for allergy reasons. At least dog breeds can do different jobs and such Because cat allergies are actually triggered by a protein in their dander, hairless cats actually aren’t allergy friendly and some longhair breeds are! My siberian is good for allergies, as is the generic domestic cat my mom rescued from a restaurant dumpster. Some breeds are genetically predisposed to lower levels of that protein, and you can also hit the lottery finding that trait in randombred cats. With all animals, going to an ethical breeder will mean you get an animal with healthy genetics and a good temperament. Backyard breeders and animal mills exist, and if someone is pushing a MLM they’re probably a backyard breeder. Ethical breeders will strive for good health & temperament, typically have a waitlist for babies before even breeding a litter to make sure none of them go without homes, and will happily take back and re-place their animals at any point if the owner is unable to keep them to ensure they don’t end up in an overcrowded shelter somewhere. The rats I’ve gotten from breeders lived twice as long as the ones I’ve gotten from rescues. I love both my cats, but the shelter kitty had massive temperament issues that took over a year of socialization to get past and almost died from an undiagnosed chronic health issue just months after I adopted him. The breeder kitty is the sweetest, most docile cat I’ve ever seen and the worst medical issue she’s ever had has been some soft poops after I switched her food too fast. They’re the exact same age, one just doesn’t have healthy genetics – he’s VERY lucky I was prepared for a challenge when I adopted him. If he went to someone who was a little more hesitant to run to the vet, he’d be dead.

I think a lot of people don’t realize the Park high school alumni shirt Additionally,I will love this difference between ethical and unethical breeding, which leads to a lot of hate towards breeders as a whole. If unethical breeding didn’t exist, neither would our current dog overpopulation problem! Most dogs in shelters are the result of puppy mills or people just jamming two dogs together because they can sell the puppies for hundreds of dollars. (Cats are a different story – support your local TNR programs pls) Ethical breeding keeps animals healthy, happy, and in the hands of capable owners. It’s a lot harder to get a puppy from a breeder if you clearly have no intentions of properly caring for it, but anyone who plans on smacking their untrained dog in the face every time it barks can pick up a dog off Craigslist of Greenfield Puppies or with no problem. Ethical breeders also typically breed at a financial loss, because all the health testing & vet care required is fucking expensive. Backyard breeders and mills are the ones you see aiming to make a profit, because doing that is literally not possible if you’re doing all the things required to make sure your animals are healthy.
