Hanoi, and the Original just a girl who Loves her girl Mechanic heart wings shirt moreover I will buy this old quarter, is much worse with the elements you mention. The rest of Vietnam is much more chill, even if you do encounter some of it there as well. Don’t cancel! Unfortunately lack of consideration and trying to make a quick buck without thinking of the long term are two symptoms over 90% of the vietnamese locals are plagued with. The scamming is better outside of the big cities, but the lack of consideration (poor driving, construction and loud kareoke at inappropriate hours, etc) is widespread. If you want somewhere quieter go to Da Nang and then take a bus/taxi to Hoi An from the airport It’s a beautiful little town and there’s a beach and plenty of markets etc. Do a bit of research and find out how much things should cost. You’ll never get scammed again. A quick dismissive wave or no, and then completely ignoring them will work 99% of the time.

Da Nang, especially Son Tra is way less dense than Hanoi or saigon. Less people are walking to where they want to go, so less street hawkers. It’ll feel like a vacation within a vacation for you. Highly recommend. I’m there now and it’s exactly that. For the Original just a girl who Loves her girl Mechanic heart wings shirt moreover I will buy this construction noise, Hanoi has a law about allowing big construction vehicles to come to the inner city after 10pm to avoid traffic jam and safety. And the Old Quarter is the smallest area that the only time they can do construction is during late night. They have to apply for permission. About the scam, it’s everywhere in the world. A quick google will show you how terrible it is in France, Italy and Spain. If you visit Egypt and India, well, good luck. Sure, it sucks. The gov and locals have been trying their best to tackle those scammers down. It’s actually been quiet for awhile and now back on the same old tricks. Learn to say no when you don’t feel comfortable. And tbh, one of the most important things to do before travel is to search about the scams and risks at the destination place. About cancelling Danang, I don’t think you should. Danang is a beach city so it’s that crowded like the Old Quarter. HCM is also a large city. There will be similar scams and some robberies, so be aware and careful with your wallet, phone, etc. Hoi An is beautiful but also, if you have that hard time dealing with vendors and street sellers, don’t go to the old center town after 6pm. Walk around during the noon and get on a rooftop or terrace restaurant/cafe.
