Know when you’re driving with someone and they tell you “you’re gonna want to be in that lane eventually” and they mean like when you get a chance, secure your spot or you’ll get forced the wrong way of a split Wait to last second and miss it is the dumber option than inconvenience the big singularly important 90 in a 60 speeder with your slowpoke 75 in a 60 for a couple miles And I promise the 30mph over-ers who feel the need to 2 ft clearance weave and equal opportunity pass left or right to stay at 90 the whole trip like Sandra Bullock are also “passing” the entire trip Because they feel like it is their job to enforce the speed limit. Tell them they’re breaking the law by turning to vigilantism. Law Enforcement Officers enforce laws, not random citizens. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding remains the number one factor in more than 25% of fatal accidents each year. Then give me a ticket. If you’re enforcing the speed limit you must be a cop, therefore got your pad out and give me a ticket. Oh you’re not a cop? Then get the fuck out of the passing lane. I usually drive 80 in the far left lane and still think that. But if someone wants it. I will happily scoot over to the right lane. In multi lane scenarios, I sometimes I find myself in the left lane with someone on my ass and it’s just because I was going faster than everyone on the right of me, but the guy behind me wants to go 90. That said I do try to move out of the left if I see someone coming up on me fast, but it can be hard when the whole freeway is congested. I dont understand why some people find this so hard to realize. The passing lane is for passing cars going slower than you, as long as that condition is met then there’s no room to complain. You wanting to go 20+ mph over the limit has no bearing on whether someone is right to be in the left lane. As an aside, I had someone riding my ass like this recently who proceeded to whip over and pass me on the right (I had literally just flicked my blinker on to move over) the second she got an inch of space. Just about clipped my taillight with her headlights.
