I am currently 41 and very scared to have an early demise. I try not to think about it too often but it gets to me. I try to live each day to the fullest. I mean, yeah. I’m not remotely scared of death. Scared of pain that might result in death, sure, but not death itself. I kinda think of death of the last experiment you get to take. Either there is something and you find out what it is or there’s not and your consciousness never knows it. That’s comforting to me. You should go watch people that had near-death experiences and out of body experiences on YouTube. Those that have had those experiences say that death is actually the greatest experience you will ever have. One could attribute this to DMT release when near death but what is fascinating about it is that so many different people throughout the world have experienced similar or the same things without ever having talked to each other I don’t think it’s about accepting death, it’s about accepting that there’s only so much you can do to control when it happens and understanding that a lot of our fear of death comes from not knowing what happens next. It could be worse but it could be better, it could be nothing, no one knows. Uncertainty is scary. If you’re scared of death then it means your life has enough going for it that you’re scared to lose what you have which is a beatiful thought on it’s own.

Worry about it enough that you prepare as best you can (staying healthy physically and mentally) and let the rest fall by the wayside. I’m definitely still scared, but one thing that I did find helped me out is something I saw in a random Reddit comment. Something along the lines of: “There’s nothing inherently scary about death. Your brain just doesn’t know how to comprehend it.” I remind myself of that sometimes, and it helps a bit. I’m not afraid to die. On the daily I wish a truck would come run me over or something. However growing old, watching as my loved ones pass, becoming weaker, seeing my body change. That’s what scares me. Picking out where I’m going to be buried, just counting the days, knowing it’s getting closer to my time. That’s what scares me. Maybe it’s the anticipation. Knowing it’s inevitable and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. I try to have control over everything in my life, but that’s the one thing I can’t control. Maybe From an early age i was taught my life was meaningless and if I could die doing something that would give it meaning then it wouldn’t be completely useless, i don’t recommend that approach… It took some time but I value my life now.
