People in relationships can be very ridged and controlling about any social interaction where there is any chance of sexual attraction, let alone any likelihood of any inappropriate acts occurring. I had it occur to me with my mentor, who was a bit younger than me; who also became somewhat of a friend. We had wanted to get our spouses and kids together socially at some point, and my wife was totally onboard with that idea, but it turns out, as you’ll see, her husband apparently never wanted to meet me/us, and never did. I think some folks are just extremely insecure, and can have varied reasons for their stance. Makes things less awkward in the long run. And like everyone else, as long as they are appropriate texts, and nothing ever goes over that line, text him back to keep things mutual. My best friend’s husband sends me the occasional joke or well wishes for my birthday or whatever. It’s not weird. I like him!
