Some of them were serving in Nam and never got to go to college. They aren’t taking anything from you. They never felt entitled. ill weigh in because this whole vilification of baby boomers doesn’t sit well at all with me. I watched my parents struggle to parent me. I ended up in a children’s home in the Nice carpenter’s prayer amen thank you for this job and the blessing it provides pray shirt What’s more,I will buy this 80s (I’m gen x) . The children’s home was called the Grange and featured on a BBC programme called Panorama it was investigated for child abuse. Why is this person telling me all this and what is the context you may ask? Well, it’s because people treat baby boomers (my parents) like they had everything handed to them. The truth of the matter is they themselves were parented by people who had suffered amazing stress and trauma and unforgivable atrocities in a war. A war that most people could not begin to fathom. So do tell me do you think that baby boomers wouldn’t swap parents that didn’t cry and stare at walls for the great material wealth that was heaped upon them in the years after the second world war? I’m not saying that the younger generation now haven’t been given the hard shaft – they have. But what I am saying is look at things from others’ point of view. Everything isn’t as cut and dry as you think it is. THis all being said young people should be heavily invested in. They are the future.

Because what you’re really paying for is the degree. Tons of college lectures are available online for little or nothing, because they don’t get you that piece of paper at the end. The admin is looking for boomers to leave them money for the endowment. Schools are building retirement communities next to campus and putting together all sorts of programs to try to get bequests. 124 more repliesI graduated in 1977. What has changed in university internal economics that justifies charging 20 times what I paid for a degree? Or is it just a cash grab? Even food and rent haven’t increased that much and I doubt professors’ pay has either. I get the rage about the student loan debt, but honestly? If Boomers are willing to go back and pay $10 to learn things like math, science, and economics then we should be overjoyed. Maybe they’ll start voting like they didn’t ignore all of that shit in the 60s and 70s.
