When I lived in drier Southern California I had a totally different warm weather wardrobe than I do now in the humid south east. IME, in a dry climate I could wear light long loose layers; things like long sleeve linen blouses to keep the sun off my skin, and stay perfectly cool. In a humid climate it’s harder for me to wear clothes like that; I need to expose a bit more skin to stay cool because those long light layers have a greenhouse effect. Yes I’m in Ohio where it’s humid when it’s hot and dry af when it’s cold. My aunt grew up here and moved to Sacramento, my cousin grew up in Cali and they visited one summer when he was a teen. He was AMAZED when we told him it was only 75 degrees, it hits different when it’s also 80% humidity. Poor kid was sweating bullets in his lightweight long sleeved tee. Light linen and cotton fabrics in airy/loose fits will always be the most breathable. Loose oversized dresses and jumpsuits in these fabrics, absolutely. But sometimes that can be a rut in itself I get stuck in and doesn’t always feel like I tried.

-A loose strappy/camisole style dress like this. I wear it on its own, over a tshirt or tank top, under a linen button down etc. to switch things up. In the same vein, sheer dresses and pants could be worth looking into. -when wearing shorts, I think it looks most stylish to wear something long-sleeved on top rather than the basic shorts+tiny top which I just don’t think looks intentional/fashionable (as a silhouette). I live in a hot (up to 38C in summer) humid area and end up wearing a lot of long sleeve tops in summer actually. They shade my shoulders and arms from the sun and bugs which helps with overall comfort.
