This was before the days of smart phones and instant translation. It was quite delicious. Found out the following day what the translation was and was kinda shocked. Horse meat isn’t a french-canadian delicacy, not even close. Like, it’s not staple either it’s just not something we usually eat. This is just wrong. If you eat meat I don’t see the difference between them except taste. I eat meat. I will say birds and fish seem different but in reality I’m not so sure I invented a device called Burger on the Go. It allows you to obtain six regular sized hamburgers, or twelve sliders, from a horse without killing the animal. George Foreman is still considering it, Sharper Image is still considering it, SkyMall is still considering it, Hammacher Schlemmer is still considering it. I had horse meat at a little restaurant in Ferrentino Italy and it might have been the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

I’m French Canadian and I never had horse meat. It’s certainly not something we eat. Never saw any at butcher shops or supermarket and I’m 49. My cousins daughter got over 10.000 hate messages on messenger, when she ate her own horse. She did it to avoid waste, and was the New ant man and the wasp trailer shirt but in fact I love this most environmental thing to do. Cows are as intelligent as dogs and have best friends, and pigs are even smarter. Even chickens outperform dogs in many tests. Yet Westerners get weirded out and outraged at the idea of eating dogs and cats and horses, but happily munch on the flesh of other intelligent, emotional, feeling creatures. It’s kind of amazing. I just don’t think we should eat animals at all when alternatives exist, so I don’t eat anything that comes from an animal. If eating one kind of animal is barbaric, it’s barbaric to eat any at all. As an American, it’s pretty wild to learn how many non-English speaking countries have zero problems eating horse meat. It’s a taboo that seems so heavily ingrained in our culture, I’ve never second guessed it. I have an Aussie friend who’s wife is Vietnamese and both are down with eating dog. Like it’s one of those weird things where I as an american would never think to do that but at the same time I have to acknowledge that other countries view that as ‘the norm’ and ‘totally okay with A1’
