I would love to just do boss fights with random players, but the game makes it overly complicated. Endless “unable to summon” messages because someone else summoned first. Level restrictions preventing underleveled players from summoning. Getting disconnected from the host upon dying instead of getting the option to try again. Annoying password systems to invite specific players. Cannot use torrent in coop. The list goes on… Elden Ring is one of the best single player games I’ve ever seen, but its coop system is terrible. The fact that a mod for full coop on PC has gotten a ton of attention is proof of this. Spell queue was bad in Demon’s Souls and it’s even worse a decade later with no major upgrades (holding down d-pad is barely an upgrade).

The gank fights often feel like they weren’t designed to be fought together, namely foreskin duo, and as a result sometimes feel much more jank than necessary Endgame bosses like Fire Giant, Radahn, and Elden beast. Just too much running around. For Radahn using your horse for small portions is fine, but it sometimes felt like I was on my horse too much. Luckily in terms of the way that fight was set up it kind of made sense so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Having to deal with Fire Giant and Elden Beats running away tho was really annoying and made me lose a lot of enjoyment of the fight Going back there after almost every boss to claim remembrances/ upgrade gear felt super hollow after a while. It would’ve been a nice touch if the NPCs had some additional dialogue. Why did i spend 45 minutes killing a magical red doggy only to get 4k runes? How is this difficult miniboss worth as much as a single wheelchair flamethrower man (~3k) at deeproot depths? When you get a new item, it would be cool if it told us it was a sword, talisman, consumable, etc. just so I know exactly where to look for more info on it
