I’m going to nitpick this one. I think the My pussy the fertile crescent shirt and I love this thing you’re talking about is closer to something like toxic feminism. When talking about toxic femininity, it’s toxic enforcement of traditional feminine roles, so it would be something more like being shitty to women who aren’t traditional homemakers, and don’t have children and stay home to raise them. To be fair, I think this is partly rooted in a kind of short-sighted, but still logical self-interest. Choices are normalized and then they become the norm, and then it becomes easier for those who fall within that norm. If more women work, then it’s objectively better for other working women as society creates infrastructure and expectations they have an easier time meeting. Daycare is easy to come by, parents carpool aggressively to allow for jobs, bosses don’t bat an eye if parents need to pop out for some school presentation/doctor’s appointment etc.. When I grew up, it was the opposite: Working women were not yet the norm and women shamed my mom for working. But for her the most consequential aspect was that the social systems were designed for SAHMs. Daycare wasn’t readily available, she had to sneak out to drop me at my activities, she was shut-out of the regular mom-mutual-help arrangements, etc.

A lot of it is jealousy. I’ve met several women that were insanely triggered and jealous that my husband doesn’t care if I work or not.
