Like they couldn’t get the AI to be smart or reactive enough to make them difficult so instead they just made them spam 500 attacks in a row that you just have to roll around for while waiting for a single opening. It made some fights feel kind of tedious. rather than reusing bosses for dungeons, we should have way more instances of tarnished warriors. necromancer garris style, or that monk you steal the fell god flame from. rather than another ulcerated tree spirit, give me a unique named npc with random armor/spells/whatever. there’s so much gear to choose from in this game, there could be so many npc bosses. There seems to be a major discrepancy in the loot and your ability to use it. The idea of an open-world with all this side content should make it more possible for you to be a jack of all trades; Even if it’s late in the game it feels like I should be able to take advantage of half the total options in combat rather than just a fourth, especially when you get so many cool weapons through the course of your first playthrough. I understand incentivizing specialization in a specific playstyle, dark souls has always done this, but this is Elden Ring, and the sandbox for magic is kind of unparalleled in this game, and it feels like in order to play in that sandbox to it’s fullest extent, you can’t just specialize in faith or intelligence, but in order to get enough stats in faith/intelligence and strength/dex/ or arcane to really fill the increased power fantasy this game promises, you have to have already beat the game and be playing in at least NG+1, and at that point you can already tackle whatever enemy or boss is in your path, because logically you’d have already beat them with inferior skills, stats and weapons.

Not being able to compare equipped items with items in stores. Heck, just compare items more easily in general. I feel like I never have a good idea of how weapons stack up against each other. Some if the bosses are so jumpy and fast but the camera doesn’t seem to follow them as well as Sekiro did. Good for most of the game, but certain larger or speedy bosses feel a fair bit harder due to some camera issues that made it hell to track and dodge some of their attacks. The balancing is really erratic. The beginning and the end of the game were really solid but for those middle 30 hours, I was just blowing through enemies without really having to think. Thankfully, just exploring the world and seeing the things is fun in its own right. are you sure you want to resummon torrent right now while you need to get away from the bastard who just knocked you off torrent and is prepping to repurpose your colon as sabatons?
