With breeder reactors, we have enough nuclear fuel to power the Michael Harris II From Dekalb To The Show Baseball T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this entire world for hundreds of thousands of years. This is not the issue people make it out to be. It’s not a race between countries , my country’s leadership and the majority of the population that wanted to abolish nuclear are idiots but let’s not celebrate Germany’s idiotic decision. You are right that nuclear is difficult to ramp up and down (although new power plants are addressing this issue) so it should be used as the baseline energy while the rest is renewables It was about the same orders the couple of times I checked in May (2 to 3 times the renewables, 10 times the emissions). 89% of France’s electricity is non-fossil fuel. Quite disingenuous to just remove this information when comparing the two countries.

France has opted for nuclear as a main contributor to their electricity mix, which makes them very clean in terms of carbon emissions. Of course, the Michael Harris II From Dekalb To The Show Baseball T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this proportion of “renewables” in France will struggle to match the sheer output of nuclear (a lot of it which is exported to Germany by the way). Germany is great for pushing renewables, but let’s not forget that their (ridiculous) decision to shut off all nuclear output directly contributes to renewables taking a huge proportion of their domestic electricity mix. And Germany will struggle even more to match the very low amount of carbon emissions of France (306 gCO2eq/kWh vs 33 for France). Which is what matters for fighting climate change. We will see another kind of cope in the winter I guess. I’m not a “fan” of nuclear energy but overall if you can keep a plant functioning with no problems I don’t see why you should shut it down.
