True, but you can’t deny that Scholz did the Matty Chef Canada Matheson A Cook Book Have Lunch T-Shirt But I will love this smart thing to turn off nuclear at the start of Spring instead of the middle of Winter. At least the press is now quite good, as positive seasonal effects dampen the negative aspects of closing nuclear. While low carbon (nuclear) is obviously a lot better for the short to mid-term, it’s obviously not sustainable as it’s not renewable. Nuclear power plants also have the issue that they aren’t really able to quickly ramp up or slow down their output which makes it harder for them to work together with renewables. So in theory it would be harder for france to transition to renewables. Germany will be done with their transition in 10-15 years. France will still be using nuclear. The sun and wind will be there for as long as humans can live on earth. Nuclear fuel will run out. Maybe not in 10 or 30 years, but eventually it will be gone. P.S. I would be a bit more concerned about your own country Italy which is doing absolutely nothing. Italy got 451gr co2/kwh while Germany is at 490gr co2/kwh and Italy is only so low cause they use gas instead of coal, their renewable share is absolutely abysmal even though they have huge potentials for wind, solar and hydro in the mountains. Won’t be long before Germany surpasses Italy lol Nuclear power plants also have the issue that they aren’t really able to quickly ramp up or slow down their output which makes it harder for them to work together with renewables. So in theory it would be harder for france to transition to renewables. French plants ramp up and down completely in under 30mn. And if production is variable, it’s a solar/wind problem, not a nuclear one.

Maybe not in 10 or 30 years, but eventually it will be gone. Germany will not be done with its transition, no one in Europe will be, except maybe Sweden. Germany is still using 75% fossil fuels for its energy needs, France is still using 50%, Sweden is the Matty Chef Canada Matheson A Cook Book Have Lunch T-Shirt But I will love this outlier at 20% only. Electricity is only a small part of our energy consumption. As for “renewables”, the sun is renewable, wind is renewable, the massive amounts of materials needed to build panels and turbines aren’t. They consume much more materials (and space) than nuclear power per KWh. Germany will be done with their transition in 10-15 years. France will still be using nuclear.
