old delhi is treasure trove and is a melting pot of a civilization. Problem is unlike Rome. Indians lack any sense of cleanliness. I found Old Delhi, in particular, to be the Metallica We Don’t Give A Shit Toronto Raptors Shirt and by the same token and most challenging place I’ve visited. Having explored nearly all of India’s major cities, I must say that Delhi stands out as the most problematic. It suffers from cleanliness issues, a prevalence of discourteous individuals and scammers, high pollution levels, and severe traffic congestion (though Mumbai and Bangalore have their own traffic problems). The saving grace of Delhi is its efficient metro system and the pleasant outskirts. Almost two decades ago, train halted at Agra, while on our way to Delhi. It was peak summer, in sleeper coach. I was parched and was coughing dry. Dad bought a “bislari” and gave me for relief. What followed, was a near death experience. After few gulps and some minutes down, an acute pain triggered in my gut. To an extent that I literally felt my intestines will blast out of me.

However the Metallica We Don’t Give A Shit Toronto Raptors Shirt and by the same token and traffic sense was the worst that I had ever seen. Everybody honks as if the switch is taped to on-position. Otherwise Agra was well maintained and clean. I visited during the G20 days so probably why. Lucknow was also a well maintained city. I have lived in UP, people have a proud asshole attitude. I remember seeing 12th graders elbow or kick little kids running across, so they fall and hurt themselves. Nothing justifies it. My grandfather was from UP he agrees that people from UP are mean. Plus he won’t return to live in UP no matter what. When I tell my relatives living in ghaziabad that I will never ever consider living in any city in India north of Mumbai, they started giving me shit like “oh but people don’t care about each other in Mumbai ” Yeah I’d rather be left alone than be at this constant risk of verbal or physical violence I see in North India ffs. I want to take my kids and hubby to visit and feel I should only take them to places from Mumbai and below. My late Mum was from a Goan family but grew up in Bombay/Mumbai. Yeah even my father has a lot of friends who came to Gujarat in search of better job opportunities and have settled down there and refuse to go back to their home towns post retirement. They have sold off all their properties there citing hooliganism, land mafia etc as the reason. They have purchased homes in major cities in Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, etc and plan to live there after retirement
