For me it’s the Mens Reel Cool Grandpa Fishing Design, Fun Fathers Day Fishermen T-Shirt and by the same token and loss of “work time” with this new “blended time” concept. People got used to doing stuff in the middle of emails and phone calls, which they now can’t in a back to office world. Can’t tell you how many calls I’ve been on where some participants are obviously shopping or getting their car served or something. I think hybrid is the optimal solution. But it doesn’t matter, it’s nearly impossible to get a reasonable discussion about it hear. Any benefit to in the office is often summarily dismissed., usually from not my problem or that doesn’t apply to me. But, it’s ok if it doesn’t for others and I would expect others to be different. Ultimately I’m in the camp of if you/your team can get work done well it doesn’t matter if it’s WFH/hybrid/in office.

Unpopular opinion. I don’t work better from home. I don’t see people being more productive working from home. I understand why people prefer it, especially those with shitty commutes. You can go run that quick errand that you needed to, you can duck out early without anyone noticing. You can schedule endless meetings and calls that eat into your day that could have been a simple email or conversation thread, but since everyone is remote you have to get on the Mens Reel Cool Grandpa Fishing Design, Fun Fathers Day Fishermen T-Shirt and by the same token and same “page” by jumping on a zoom call. It’s way more distracting and also isolating. I’m always getting roped into helping out with the baby just because I’m physically there, even though I might be actually busy and trying to focus. I enjoy seeing people, I enjoy the camaraderie of working side by side with my team to solve problems. I miss having a whiteboard to bounce ideas off with people. I miss just the different headspace you get into from being somewhere other than your home and not rolling out of bed like a slob with no pants on to start your day just because you can.
