Well, what that taught me, is adaptability! I would stuff the Mechanic stuck between idk idc and idgaf skull shirt Furthermore, I will do this cutlet in my cheek pouches, like a hamster. I would demonstrate my plate, and get green light from the teacher to go for that nap. I would then pop into the bathroom, and empty my cheek pouches into the toilet. Used that clever technique for months before I was caught. Then it was smooth sailing with no forced feedings until first year of school… In most cases, making a kid finish dinner is a matter of proper nutrition. I have small kids and they’ll get bored at the table and say they aren’t hungry. Half an hour later I can hear a bag of chips in the kitchen lol. So in that case I’ll have them eat “a few more bites” a couple of times until most of it is gone. It’s not me forcing them to eat, it’s me knowing they’ll eat garbage if they don’t finish their dinner.

But it’s a balance. If they’re clearly actually not hungry I won’t force them to finish (though I’ll reasonably suspect some pre dinner snacking happened) or if they genuinely don’t like something I won’t force them to eat it after a few tries. What I will say and wrap it up with is this, kids have very little control in their own lives. When they go to bed, what they do, what they wear, all that, is up to someone else. They’ll often use food and refusal to eat certain foods as a way to gain some agency and I get that. This seems to be a Boomer thing, that has unfortunately passed down into the Mechanic stuck between idk idc and idgaf skull shirt Furthermore, I will do this GenX parenting book, but is less prevalent in Millennial parenting styles and definitely rare in GenZ Parenting. Usually Mom or Grandma pulled the, “You’re not getting up until you finish your plate” nonsense. I then sat for anywhere between 1 – 6 hours, refusing to touch the food, while also ignoring them completely. Just because I wasn’t allowed to leave the table, doesn’t mean I had to participate! Usually ended with them caving in because my ignoring them, was teaching my younger sister to ignore them too!
