Unless your a high end STR then I think it makes sense to put in cheaper stuff, it does not mean it can’t be comfy and stuff. Real wood furniture can withstand spills. If you buy stuff made from particle board, then yes, you’re going to have to constantly replace it. Not true. I have a ton of antique solid wood, high end furniture in my home. If I don’t use a coaster or accidentally put something with a few drops of moisture on it it will leave a mark that doesn’t go away without refinishing.
