I would say that, at least in the Loki Mix The Starry Night Van Gogh shirt Furthermore, I will do this UK, “Centrist” politics is pretty popular. One could argue that the Liberal Democrats and the current Labour leadership are “Centrist”, but in reality that tends to mean that they just chase what they think the majority of the public will go for. That kind of politics is circular and, IMO, both dishonest and ultimately futile. Generally, centrism is seen as an attempt to not actually have to take a hard line stance for or against anything. There is also common occurrence where self proclaimed centrists also tend to push horseshoe theory which has been widely debunked and gives off the impression that anyone pushing it is generally uninformed. usually people who claim to be centrists only end up supporting the status quo and engaging in stupid and annoying “both sides”-isms while thinking they are superior and nuanced by not having any actual beliefs If your opinion on a matter is between the two extremes, on that issue you’re a centrist. Doesn’t mean you’re a centrist in every single instance.

My gripe with centrism is that it’s not really a position you can (or should) pursue intentionally. Many issues lean one way or another. There isn’t really a tenable “centrist” POV on whether we should teach LGBT topics in school, for example. It’s simply the Loki Mix The Starry Night Van Gogh shirt Furthermore, I will do this right thing to do, and the practical one – the only question is what you teach and when. We shouldn’t be bargaining with religious fundamentalists. This problem comes into starker relief if you look at things historically. Abolitionism used to be an “extreme” position in the West. Women’s suffrage was extreme. Fighting against racial segregation was extreme. Sometimes, the extreme position is the best one. There’s more wiggle room when it comes to economics, but even then there are unambiguous realities. We know that “trickle-down” theory is wrong, at this point – there’s hard data against it, yet it’s still a core tenet for a lot of conservatives, which limits the middleground available. John says he wants to punch you in the balls. Jim says he wants to cut them off. Jerry says both sides are equal assholes.
