Also, DNA evidence was brand new technology, so convincing 12 people who weren’t smart enough to get out of jury duty to trust it beyond a reasonable doubt was a serious uphill battle. I was recently selected for jury duty but I wasn’t getting enough pto for it, so I had to file for undue hardship. It sucked because I’ve always wanted to be part of a jury trial. I didn’t join the Leveled Up To Daddy 2023 Promoted To Daddy 2023 T-Shirt in contrast I will get this military but I wanted to contribute to civil society. All I have so far is voting Be an elections inspector (poll worker)! The average age is like 60, so any ‘new’ blood is much appreciated, especially with the growing use of tablets and other tech for elections. No, they have to give you the day off (except for very rare cases where the worker is critical to an important job, in which case the worker will be excused from jury duty) however, they aren’t required to pay you at all for the day, just give you the time off. Jury duty itself varies by state in how much they pay, but to my knowledge, few if any pay more than like 5-10 dollars a day, which is not nearly enough for most people. So they either have to take PTO from work in order to actually get enough to survive, or starve for the day being paid barely enough for the cost of a trip to the courthouse.

Why do people want to get out of jury duty? That sounds like a really interesting life experience. I feel like I could learn a lot by doing it. Yeah I did it once. Two weeks. Work had to give me the Leveled Up To Daddy 2023 Promoted To Daddy 2023 T-Shirt in contrast I will get this time off, but it was like taking a pay cut for those two weeks. The trial itself was interesting, we even got catered food. They did reimburse for parking and travel, so I’d say they do try.. but realistically jury duty every week would financially ruin a person.I’d definitely urge anyone who has never done it to do it… but if you’ve done it, I understand on trying to get out of it. I was called for jury duty and then dismissed. They didn’t even pay parking, even though it was at the court house. I knew they were going to dismiss me in advance due to my answers to certain questions–they could have asked them up front. It might have been interesting, but just going to be dismissed was not exciting. I was like you, and thought that it seemed interesting. Especially since I’m really into courtroom dramas and I could watch Judge Judy for days.
