As an employee your lifestyle is largely dependent on what your employer allows. A new boss, corporate restructuring, or changes to the Legend Marvin Hagler 1954 2021 American Boxer T-Shirt moreover I love this industry (ie automation/offshoring) could cause significant change to your quality of life overnight. Not to mention most jobs these days do not have a solid pension or retirement plan so that will catch up to you in later life. I spend a lot of time reading comments from people who had ideal WFH positions turn into RTO shit shows in a matter of weeks. A ton of techies who had cushy six-figure jobs last year are currently unemployed and scrambling for work. Jobs suck. If you want to be self-employed then you will work long hours and accept a much higher level of risk. There is no time clock. You are always on call. You will not have work life balance in the first several years. But, in the end being your own boss will allow you to create your own ideal work-life balance. When you work for yourself you decide which jobs to take and which you don’t want. You decide when to take a vacation and you don’t have to ask permission. But, you also take all of the risk. This is why you funnel as much money as possible into high dividend funds while you have that cushy six figure job. The more you put into high dividend funds, the more passive income you get, and the less fearful you have to be about unemployment

Depends on the Legend Marvin Hagler 1954 2021 American Boxer T-Shirt moreover I love this end goal. I would work 200k+ a short time to gain the necessary funds needed for my real estate investments. Working for 100k would be more of a long term strategy. Have not read through them all, but the fact that you are asking about work life balance means it is important, if not obviously at least subconsciously. Looking at this you might be happy for a short time with capital gains, but it will not last. I am willing to conjecture that only in the USA if this option is give people would even think about the monetary over the balance. For a bit of back ground, I just changed jobs, hardware engineer for 20+ years. We are comfortable, not lavish, but changed to a job that offered just under what I was making, versus several options for 30% to 60% more. But the job I took is a work from home, unlimited vacation, and most importantly affords me much more time with my wife and a much lower stress. I understand that there are a lot of things in this equation for you, but if you are asking, use the Amy Farrah Fowler quarter method.
