Growing up I’d only ever eaten crumpets as a supper type thing. These days, now I am actually grown up, I eat them for breakfast too. As an adult I don’t have an open fire but I’ll have them for breakfast with scrambled eggs or any other time with cheese or butter, sometimes even plain. I’ve recently been eating them for breakfast,soaked thoroughly in egg and fried, they absorb it much better than bread and it’s honestly the best idea (for a breakfast) I ever had. Toasted crumpets, slathered in butter and a thin smear of Marmite are a comfort food for anytime of the day/night. You fucksticks want to hear something that’ll turn your dicks upside down? I’m 34, British, and I’ve never had a crumpet. None of my family ate them when I was growing up so they just kind of passed me by. I’m sure I’d like them but I never think to buy them. Breakfast, lunch and snack! Favourites are with honey, marmite or cheese spread after melting butter over it first.

Snacky snacks. My gran used to serve them with afternoon tea (oh her teas were epic) so for me they are a mid afternoon snack with butter and a cup of tea. (Preferably with a tonne of cakes and biscuits but perfectly acceptable by themselves) Any time, any (WITHIN REASON) topping, just like pancakes. Today I cut a load into cubes and tossed them in a lake of butter and air fried them and holy moly what a snack. A breakfast food that you can choose to eat at any time. My preference is jam and butter. Had some last weekend and enjoyed so much had a day solely eating crumpets. They can be eaten any time.
