Hell, it should be an investigation on everyone’s mental health. I’m nearly 50 and I deleted that app about 2 weeks ago. I realized that it’s just a waste of time. 4 videos on your topics, 20 on nonsense and 2 on twerking girls ,over and over. I hate how bad my internet addiction got, pretty sure we all got hooked on to TikTok and other apps that are meaningless Yep. Blame the Latino Heat Shirt but in fact I love this company, not the idiots that willingly make accounts. Makes sense…we make our own hell, people. Definitely an unpopular opinion here, but I really enjoy tik tok and the overall impact it has had on my mental health has been really positive. I get lots of great DIY tips, new recipes, cute animals, most of my favorite artists and musicians right now are smaller people I found through tiktok. I love seeing little snippets of people whose lives are very different from mine (some of my favorites are a woman who lives on a tiny island near the Arctic, a woman who works at a marine mammal rescue in Alaska, and a Maori man who talks about his language, history and culture). As a creator, I found tik tok’s in-app editor a very accessible way to start making videos and it’s now one of my favorite things to do. I’ve met a lot of really interesting people and made a bunch of friends. I interact with the content I want to see and I scroll past the stuff I don’t, and I feel like the algorithm is pretty good at showing me new stuff that aligns with my interests. I think that any sort of unsupervised social media or internet access is going to be harmful to young kids or people who are not able to moderate their use or use it responsibly, but I don’t know what the answer is to that. I think we all agree that it’s a problem, but the common refrain of “just ban Instagram/tik tok/Reddit/YouTube/Facebook” isn’t practical or reasonable. I look forward to seeing what positive changes or cultural shifts come out of investigations like these.

Lol this is just gonna be the Latino Heat Shirt but in fact I love this 2020 version of shitty parents banning rap music isn’t it. Nothing will come of it it’s a publicity stunt to appease gullible overwhelmed parents. Parents, being a dumb shit idiot with peer pressure/social issues is WHAT BEING A TEENAGER IS. They’re supposed to be little fucking socially inept assholes that’s how they grow up. You ever see a young dog hanging out with older dogs who snap at them when they cross boundaries and “correct” their behavior? It really isn’t very much different from that. First parents banned pulp fiction and the rock music and then rap and then Harry Potter and then video games and then twitch and on and on and on and on. There’s always something “corrupting” the youth and never once In human history did banning the thing ever fucking work.
