Heard someone complain once about white people getting “blue-eyed brunette” as a descriptor but the Kitty Bbc Ghosts Poster Shirt (watermarked) Furthermore, I will do this whole description of them would usually be black. ‘Black’, ‘Asian’, ‘White’ for describing people I’d say are pretty normal and not racist. Though I never heard people saying ‘Brown’ for brown people, so I wouldn’t just call my skin tone universally Nope. Not even close. For some reason my own family sort of cringes when I say white or black aloud. Not sure why since it is not racist. I’ve seen thousands of videos of people referring to some as white. Don’t see the problem if there skin color is closest to black and you use black to describe them. Being black doesn’t definitely mean you are a certain race/ethnicity, etc

Kitty Bbc Ghosts Poster Shirt (watermarked), hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Not at all. The weird looks you got were from other white people who were afraid of looking racist themselves for recognizing someone’s skin color if they showed that they knew exactly who you were talking about. It’s ironic how people who insist that a colorblind society is impossible are the Kitty Bbc Ghosts Poster Shirt (watermarked) Furthermore, I will do this ones who go out of their way to avoid acknowledging race. A colorblind society is not one where “we’re totally oblivious to differences in race” but one where “we don’t let our differences define how we treat others” I’m biracial and I prefer to be referred to as black rather than African-American, as does my family. I’d say for the most part, black Americans prefer to be called black than any of these like… dancing around the subject terms. “BPOC/POC” or “African American” isn’t something we typically call ourselves in our day to day lives. They’re terms that were created to refer to us but aren’t terms we use as self descriptors often, except maybe BPOC. I will say as well, the tone or context in which you say it matters. A customer very much did not like me and called because they had a question for me, and when asked who had helped them they spat out, with venom, “she was BLACK.” So… as long as you don’t do some weird ish like that, you’re fine. Don’t dance around it, don’t act weird and cringey about saying black. Just… say someone’s black, like you’d say someone was white, or asian.
