My kid is 3.5 so thats not relevant HOWEVER, I have taken in a lodger recently who is a friend. We charge her £500 pm to be fed daily, with obv unlimited access to the Kelce Brother Are In Monday Night Football NFL Shirt moreover I will buy this home aside from showers when we’re already in them. She says, and I quote “thats a fucking bargain”. Perhaps thats the route to go, especially if you plan to give some back. My dad said that, and it never happened. So either mean it or dont say it. I’d keep the first £500 of whatever I earned and she took 30% of whatever was left. Normally worked out between £250-350 a month. 6ish years ago my mum charged me and my brother £350 each. I was on about £1800 and brother on more. Seemed fair to me since I still saved loads. As absolute ballpark, perhaps charge them 25-33% of their take home. Still less than they would pay for a room in a shared property.

But with living at home, they are not paying any other bills. Gas, electric, council tax, TV licence, water etc all add up. Then subtract a fair sum for what they are costing you (if you need to). Back when I started work I was taking about 1000 a month after tax, my parents got £250-300, but they also bought the Kelce Brother Are In Monday Night Football NFL Shirt moreover I will buy this bulk of the food, I think my older brother paid a little more, but he was on more. I found that a more than fair rate for my own large room, food and utilities. It’s going to cost about £500 rent if they moved out tomorrow (house sharing) prob without bills – so I think £300 is a sensible amount. I’d not charge more than £500 otherwise they’re unlikely to save a lot themselves. My young team members are paying around the same now, but on £1750. Yet they still have no money and moan. Makes me annoyed haha!
